Man in Texas saves his brother and dog in N.C. via Twitter

Dramatic rescues in North Carolina after Hurricane Matthew 02:35

HOPE MILLS, NC Craig Williams was worried this past weekend about his brother Chris when Hurricane Matthew dumped a deluge of rain on North Carolina and flooded Chris’ hometown of Hope Mills.

Craig, however, was in Texas, and wasn’t sure what to do.

CBS Greensboro affiliate WFMY reports that as Craig scrolled through Twitter, looking at the hashtag #HopeMills, he unknowingly stumbled across a photo of Chris’ neighborhood.

The picture had been taken by a drone operator working under the Twitter handle @ImSoFirst, and Craig shared it with Chris, joking that at least it wasn’t his house.

Turns out the home to the far right of the photo with the blue shutter was in fact Chris’ house, and that Chris was still trapped inside, a pair of facts that Craig said later startled him.

Craig, who is all the way in Texas, immediately asked the man who took the drone picture if he could help his brother, who is a Navy veteran with a dog named Lana who cannot swim.

The drone operator then returned to the scene and flagged down a FEMA crew, who rescued Chris and Lana.
