Cops: Fugitive in grisly Mass. basement slayings carjacked man while on the run

MIDDLETON, Mass. -- Authorities think a suspect in a gruesome double homicide in Massachusetts is responsible for a knifepoint carjacking.

Police say a man was carjacked outside a Middleton restaurant at about 7 p.m. Wednesday by a man they believe was Wes Doughty.

Doughty is a suspect in the slayings last weekend of 37-year-old Mark Greenlaw and 39-year-old Jennifer O’Connor, whose bodies were found in a cluttered Peabody home. The scene was so grisly that at first police could not tell how many victims there were.

Sources told CBS Boston the couple were found shot to death and dismembered, their bodies wrapped in rugs and plastic in the home’s basement.

Authorities say the carjacking victim struggled briefly with Doughty and suffered cuts from Doughty’s pen knife, reports CBS Boston. Doughty and the carjacking victim allegedly drove around for about three hours, with Doughty driving drunk, the station reports.

The stopped once at a liquor store in Peabody and later at another liquor store in Boston around 10 p.m., where the victim was able to escape.

Doughty remains on the loose and is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees Doughty is urged not to approach him, but should call 911 immediately or the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section at 1-800-KAPTURE.

Another suspect in the slayings, Michael Hebb, has been held without bail after pleading not guilty to murder charges.
