Rupert Murdoch apologizes to Hugh Grant on Twitter

News Corp. Chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch apologized to Hugh Grant, after he tweeted that the actor had abandoned his "love child."

Murdoch took to Twitter to apologize to Grant, saying, "Hugh Grant states that he is deeply involved in his daughter's life - I accept that, regret tweet on the matter. Apologies to both parents."

Murdoch's News Corp has been involved in a British phone hacking scandal for the past year and Grant is a leading figure in the movement to stop paparazzi and reporters from invading people's right to privacy.

The media mogul's tweet occurred after a previous tweet in which he lashed out at British prime minister David Cameron for meeting with celebrities who were pushing for stricter privacy laws.

"Told U.K.'s Cameron receiving scumbag celebrities pushing for even more privacy laws. Trust the toffs! Transparency under attack. Bad," Murdoch tweeted.

When he was questioned by another user for calling them "scumbags" he replied saying, "They don't get arrested for indecency on major LA highways! Or abandon love child's."
